Collum Hall Renovations - Americus, Georgia

Previous - Next

The historic Collum Hall is a three-story brick and block framed building with a basement area that is used for mechanical space. Allstate is completing work on the roof, basement, 2nd and 3rd floors of this building. Minimal roof truss work has been done to address sagging members, and a limited amount of structural work is required. The basement area contains a boiler and other mechanical equipment, some of which contains asbestos and lead based paint which have been abated. The basement is being water-proofed to permanently address water infiltration. Existing wall partitions are being removed to create large classrooms (60 Max Students) and several medium classrooms (25 to 50 student capacities). A new elevator tower will be constructed in a preservation sensitive manner so as not to detract from the historic character of the building. All MEP systems are being replaced. New lighting, flooring and ceiling finishes, as well as new sprinkler and fire alarm systems, are being installed. A new electrical system, along with telephone and data ports and supporting lines are also being installed.
